Recently Rose Marie Prins (a local St Petersburg artist) asked me if I was interested in writing and arranging a soundscape for an art installation at the Morean Art Center. My thoughts were that this would be a good creative challenge as I had not written music that would represent visual art .
Working from from a storyboard created by the artist, I was able to interpret a musical " impression" that combined the storyboards and the artists statement. So the challenge of course was how could I convey the emotion of the poet and at the same time maintain the musical continuity of the artist who created this installation. After much deliberation between the artist and the video artist, we arrived at a mutually agreed upon "artistic viewpoint" for the installation. I really enjoyed the challenge and the art installation was very well received.
